Blog #6: Capa + Bergman + Hitchcock

”All good things go by three”, as Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall would say (at least in his latest TV-cooking-program). And this is equally true when mentioning Alfred Hitchcock, Ingrid Bergman and Robert Capa in the same sentence.Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

Hopefully, none of the above will need a further introduction but I guess some of you will ask in what way they are related. Famous Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman and equally famous photojournalist Robert Capa had an affair in 1945. This story later on was portrayed in “Seducing Ingrid Bergman” written by Chris Greenhalgh (2012), which is a good book, by the way. But earlier than that master of fear Alfred Hitchcock, made a movie loosely portraying the loving couple. In this great movie “Rear Window”, we see James Stewart as photographer Jeff (Capa) with “best friend” Lisa (Bergman). The film is almost filmed as a stage set with few out-of-the-apartment scenes. It is tight, thrilling and greatly performed by Stewart and beautiful Kelly. But more important, a photographer was the star of the movie. The whole film is shot in an indoor movie-set and it has an inspiring color scheme as well.

Inspiring music…  “Just kissed my baby” with The Meters (1974).
